Survey Findings Large amount of 2nd Millennium BC pottery assemblage from Amuq Valley Regional Project. MBA types are more dominant; there are only 2 possible LBA sherds. MBA diagnostics are mineral tempered cookware, krater and pithos with flanged rim grooved at the top, carinated shallow bowl, globular jar, Syro-Cilician Ware hole mouth jar, bowl and unknown body sherds and jar with double rim. Other than the Simple Ware flat plate, the Syro-Cilician Ware hole mouth jar is possibly a LBA version of this ware. This is normally a typical MBA ware, however, it is not unusual to see longer use of this ware in early LB I at Tell Atchana which has a fabric and finishing style distinct from that of MBA ones. Braidwood, the director of the previous survey project in the same region, noted only MBA for this site (1937).
